Project title

Benchmarking of the Management and Maintenance Fees for Residential Buildings in Hong Kong (Jul 2007 – Jun 2008)
supported by Property and Facility Management Division, Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors

Abstract:

To ensure the performance quality of property and facility management, most management companies have obtained different quality recognitions such as ISO9000, ISO14001 and so on. However, each property has different organizational structures, staff, activities, buildings, locations and so forth. Therefore, it is very difficult to agree fair management and maintenance fees for different residential properties. This project aims to identify the benchmarking of the property and facility management and maintenance fees for residential buildings (public and private) in Hong Kong in order to rationalize the practice. The following objectives should be achieved:

1. to identify the variables influencing management and maintenance fees for residential buildings; and
2. to examine the influences of the factors identified concerning the management fees for residential buildings. This will enable the property and facility managers to identify and adjust the management and maintenance fees in the market.
